TOMRA Recycling Adds Eric C. Olsson to Head of Plastics Segment

Sensor-based sorting specialist, TOMRA Recycling, announces the expansion of its North American customer support network by adding Eric C. Olsson as Regional Segment Manager – Plastics. This newly created position will be dedicated to strengthening the plastics business by providing in-depth sorting expertise to customers with a focus on recycling plastic flakes.

Offering experience producing virgin polymers, Olsson will lead the charge in helping the plastics market transition to a circular lifecycle. He will also support TOMRA’s regional sales management team in helping customers design the best configuration of optical sorting technology to improve process efficiency and purity of recycled plastic products.

“Eric’s education and professional background provides a unique combination of deep plastics industry experience and extensive technical process engineering experience. It understands plastic production and recycling processes and will offer customers expert assistance in choosing sorting technology,” said Ty Rhoad, Americas Regional Manager for TOMRA Recycling. “Furthermore, his dedication to the circular economy and passion for the recycling industry is a perfect fit with that of TOMRA. Working for petrochemical giant Braskem, Olsson has spent the past five years in process engineering and sustainability for the production of polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) resins. He was an integral part of the company’s circular economy team, responsible for developing a sustainability strategy and evolving the business model for growth through recycled product offerings. Olsson holds a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Mississippi.
