State Provides Tire Disposal Site in Anderson County

Anderson County Maintenance Facility

LAWRENCEBURG, Ky. (WTVQ) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) will provide a deposit site for used tires at the Anderson County maintenance facility. The Kentucky Waste Management Division (DWM) estimates that approximately 4 million used tires are generated in Kentucky each year.

Management standards are in place for used tires to reduce the risk of fire, prevent water entrapment and mosquito infestations. There are several ways that old tires can be reused to help county, city, and state projects.

Here are some examples of the use of recycled tires:

  • profitable and performance-enhancing paving projects (rubber modified asphalt)
  • additions / equipment for outdoor classrooms and new playground equipment
  • walkways, hiking trails, picnic tables and park benches
