JAMMU, June 16: The Shiv Sena J&K unit here held a protest demonstration today against the water and electricity crisis in the city.
The protest was led by Manish Sahni, Chairman of J&K Shiv Sena and protesters shouted slogans such as “Khali Balti Khali Glass…Kahan Hai Desh Ka Vikas, Na-Bijli Na-Paani, Hai BJP Sarkar Ki Meharabani Hai”.
Addressing the protesters, Sahni said the public are now forced to buy water even for bathing, despite J&K having immense water resources.
He said that the water supply project under construction on the Chenab River, which was scheduled for completion in the year 2016, is still not completed while under this project there were a provision for the 24 hour water supply of the city of Jammu.
Sahni said the unplanned power cuts have made people’s lives hell in these hot summer days.
“In several parts of the city, there are power cuts for 3 to 4 hours a day, which makes life difficult for people as the temperature crosses the 43 degree mark,” he maintained. calling on J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to look into the matter. .
Shiv Sena President, Women’s Wing President Meenakshi Chhibber; general secretary, Vikas Bakshi; chairman, Rakesh Gupta; vice-president, Balwant Singh; President Kamghar Wing, Raj Singh; Youth Secretary, Rajesh Handa and others were also present on the occasion.
