KUALA LUMPUR, December 20 – Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) are urged to exempt flood victims from paying water and electricity bills for this month.

Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh said the issue had been raised by several flood victims themselves as they had to use a lot of water and electricity to clean their homes following the devastating flooding in several areas. .

“Since this is a huge cleanup job, flood victims want an exemption payment on this month’s water and electricity bills,” she said during a press conference held in Parliament here today.

Yeoh said the task of cleaning, repairing their homes, and purchasing new household equipment would take some time.

She also wants the government to take a strong stand in asking private sector employers to give their employees paid time off to clean their homes like the one the government has announced for civil servants.

Yeoh also urged the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development to provide immediate assistance to food victims to ensure that the elderly and people with disabilities are taken care of during this difficult time. – Bernama
