JAMMU: A one-day interactive workshop was organized today by the Jammu and Kashmir Pollution Control Committee (JKPCC) regarding “Implementation of EPR and Action Plan in accordance with the rules 2016 Electronic Waste Management Program in strategic partnership with producer responsibility organization RLG Systems India Pvt. Ltd.
The objective of the workshop was to deliberate on the current EPR implementation scenario in J&K and the status of action plan implementation under e-waste rules and to have a plat -common form of discussion between regulators and relevant stakeholders including implementing agencies i.e., District Administration, local bodies, Ministry of Industry and Commerce and Ministry of Labor to ensure implementation effective implementation of National Green Tribunal (NGT) guidelines.
Regional Manager, JKPCC, Sat Paul welcomed all participants and briefed them on the purpose of the interactive workshop.
Dr. Kumar, MK, Member Secretary, JKPCC, in his address, pointed out that the mass awareness at consumer and heavy consumer level regarding the dangers of unscientific disposal of e-waste and the collection system put in place by producers should be done consistently. , in which JKPCC will always be there to collaborate and give the best help possible.
Dr. Neelu Gera, President of JKPCC, appreciated the efforts of JKPCC in organizing such interactive workshops and expressed her gratitude to all participants, including producers, for their online and offline participation. She urged all stakeholders to ensure compliance with relevant Hon’ble NGT rules, guidelines and guidelines for collecting and disposing of e-waste in a science-based manner.
She further urged producers and respective PROs to develop strategies to ensure efficient collection and disposal of e-waste in accordance with NGT guidelines. The site requested a collaborative approach for the application of the NGT guidelines to curb the informal trade of electronic waste by the respective president, the district environmental committees and the ULBs in collaboration with JKPCC.
Detailed presentations were made by producer responsibility organisations, RLG Systems India Pvt. ltd. and Ramsetu Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., with a focus on the implementation of EPR and the role/achievements of the respective PROs in e-waste management.
