THE regional government will devote more than 11 million euros to improving the waste treatment facilities in Huercal-Overa.

Carmen Crespo, who heads the Junta’s sustainable development department, said during a recent visit to Huercal-Overa that the municipality has been for too long with “insufficiently met needs”.

The Junta project involves a € 4.7 million renovation of the Huercal-Overa wastewater treatment plant as well as four other projects in the area, Crespo revealed.

“Our goal is a municipality with zero discharge and 100% waste treatment,” she said.
