The Calhoun Comic Book and Toy Fair will take place on Saturday October 16 at the Sonoraville Recreational Complex, 7494 Ga. 53.

Mount Tabor United Methodist Church, 2341 Everett Springs Road, Armuchee, will host Cars & Crafts in the Country on Saturday, October 16, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be cars, local crafts, lunch, and other goodies, and entry is free. Calhoun Elk Club will host its Soccer Shoot 2021 on Sunday, October 17 at 2 p.m. at the River Park Soccer Complex for boys and girls under 8, under 10, under 12, under 14 and under 16. Directory Calhoun Rotary Club Golf Tournament takes place on Wednesday, October 20 at Fields Ferry Golf Course with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. and registration at 11 a.m. Registration includes 18 holes of golf and a lunch box for each player. The prize per team is $ 400, or $ 100 per individual player. The format is an 18-hole four-hole scramble with prizes.

Truist Mortgage will host a free community education class on Thursday, October 21 at 2 p.m. at the Calhoun Gordon County Library, 100 N. Park Ave. The subject will be to become an owner.

The Georgia String Festival scheduled for Friday October 22 and Saturday October 23 at the Harris Arts Center, 212 S. Wall St., was POSTPONED due to COVID-19. A makeup date has yet to be set.

The Calhoun VFW Post 5376, 406 W. Line St., will host its 2021 Fall Festival on Saturday, October 23, starting at 3 p.m. for vendors and 4 p.m. for the festival. Activities will include a bounce house, hay ride, petting zoo, pony rides, 50/50 raffle and more.

Gordon Central High School Women’s Baseball and Basketball Teams will be holding a pancake breakfast fundraiser at Longhorn’s, 1301 Lovers Lane Road on Saturday, October 23 from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tickets cost $ 10 each. See the players for tickets.

The Georgian Association of Conservation Districts will host a workshop on pollinators in agricultural education on Saturday, October 23, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Gordon County Ag Services Center, 1282 Highway 53 Spur. To register or for more information visit www.gacd.us/pollinators in line.

The Child advocacy center will host a free community education class on Monday, October 25 at 10 a.m. at the Calhoun Gordon County Library, 100 N. Park Ave. The topic will be Internet Safety for Children in a Digital World.

Gordon Central High School will hold its Homecoming Parade on Thursday, October 28, starting at 7 p.m., following the traditional route through downtown Calhoun.

The City of Calhoun will observe the Halloween party on Sunday, October 31 with treats from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Downtown merchants will be holding a candy event from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the Friday before October 29.

Calhoun’s First Presbyterian Church, 829 Red Bud Road, will host its annual arts and crafts festival “Mistletoe Market” on Saturdays November 20-21. Those interested in renting a booth, call Sharla Smith at 478-983-2570.

The Calhoun-Gordon County Public Library, 100 N. Park Ave., resumed Noni Story Time for kids of all ages every Tuesday at 10:30 am Kids can sing, hear stories, and participate in crafts. All aspects of in-person programming are subject to change based on health crisis guidelines and procedures.

Calhoun city center hosts a farmers market outside the depot, 109 S. King St., Mondays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Renis Barrett VFW Post 5376, 406 W. Line St., will host a Veterans Awareness Breakfast on the last Saturday of each month, 8 am-10am, in the event hall. Free breakfast is open to all local veterans.

Anglican Calhoun Scholarship strives to establish an Orthodox and Evangelical community of Anglicans or other like-minded Christians interested in the Anglican way, committed to the authority of scripture and worship according to the book of common prayer.
