Bellmawr Water customers experience water discolouration due to power outage

The Borough of Bellmawr Water Department experienced a Leaf and Bell Water Treatment Plant malfunction on August 10, 2022 due to a power outage, the borough announced on its website.

The hydrants had to be emergency flushed, causing the water to discolor. We will continue to flush hydrants serviced by the Leaf and Bell factory which may cause additional discoloration.

When our crews are in your area, you may notice a drop in water pressure or discolored water as sediment in the water lines gets stirred up when the hydrants are opened. This is normal and temporary. If this happens, it is not harmful. Please let your cold water run until it runs clear and avoid washing clothes until your water runs clear.

The following areas will be emptied on August 11, 2022:

Meyner Drive, Cornelia Drive, Bell Road & W. Browning Road, Creek Road, Windsor Drive, Trinity Place, Flanders Road, Colonial Road, Wayne Road, Sunnyside Lane, Cardinal Drive, Anderson Avenue, Maloney Court, Snyder Avenue, Collette Court, and Kennedy Blvd.

“We’re sorry for any inconvenience rinsing may cause and appreciate your patience,” the post read.
