Judges’ Pool

The WRWA Judges’ Pool provides judges for writing contests sponsored by WRWA or by clubs, civic organizations, and other groups throughout Wisconsin. Our goal is to assist WRWA Contest Managers by keeping a list of qualified judges they can call on when needed and to help writing clubs and other groups who sponsor writing contests.

As a matter of WRWA policy and to avoid any potential conflict of interest, WRWA-sponsored contests seek judges from outside the association unless a member has particular qualifications by virtue of academic training, success in publication, or awards for writing in the genres being judged. However, many WRWA members are well qualified to judge writing contests not sponsored by the association and are willing to help where needed. WRWA members may suggest judges from outside the association by e-mailing the Judges’ Pool Coordinator. Please list the candidate’s name, qualifications, and contact information. The Coordinator will verify the candidate’s willingness to participate and add the information to the database.

Writing clubs and other organizations seeking judges for a writing contest should click the Contact Us link in the menu on the left, and select Judges’ Pool from the list to e-mail the coordinator, who will set you up with one or more appropriate judges for your contest.
